WHAT IS SUPER CRUISE™?

Cutting-Edge Hands-Free Driving

To begin, let's first define exactly what Super Cruise™ is and what it does. Put simply, this advancement allows you to enjoy a hands-free driving experience. To help you maintain a proper traveling speed and following distance, it works with Adaptive Cruise Control2, which many new Cadillacs already offer. However, Super Cruise™ goes a bit further by also relying on additional in-vehicle cameras, GPS guidance, radars, and OnStar® connectivity so it knows exactly what's coming up ahead. Additionally, you'll need to be traveling on a compatible highway, which you can find out by chatting with a staff member at the dealership.

Using Super Cruise™

So, how do you use this feature in your properly-equipped Cadillac? First, engage the ACC button on your steering wheel. You'll notice the corresponding symbol in your instrument panel illuminate in white to indicate that's been turned on. Once you're traveling on a compatible road, Super Cruise™ will automatically check that you're paying attention to the road ahead, that the lane markings are clearly visible, and that the GPS is connected. Once it's on, its panel icon will also become white. As soon as you notice that this has become illuminated, you can press the Super Cruise™ button. Then, when the steering wheel icon has turned green, you can remove your hands from the helm to enjoy a relaxing commute.

Proper Use & Warnings

Although Super Cruise™ is a highly-advanced driving system, it still requires an attentive motorist in order to operate properly. Therefore, you should be aware of conditions that make its use unsafe. For instance, it should not be engaged when traveling in challenging road conditions, if you're towing a trailer, or when visibility is poor. Furthermore, Super Cruise™ requires your full attention, even though you're not actively controlling the vehicle. If it detects that you're not focused on the road ahead, it will issue visual and audible warnings. Eventually, it will automatically disengage if you don't make the necessary corrections.
